Hundreds of students throughout Kansas City are already participating in consistent and ongoing STEAM learning experiences, and building new knowledge and skills that will power Kansas City's future workforce.

Supporting Our Mission

IDEA Space is a nonprofit educational organization of The Barstow School. Donations made to The Barstow School, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, are tax-deductible as allowed by law. All gifts are wholeheartedly appreciated and make an immense impact for students and educators in Kansas City.

  • Founding Year Donor

    As a founding year donor, you will help open the doors at IDEA Space to all area students during our inaugural year. Your gift will cover initial operating costs, furnishings, transportation, curriculum creation, purchase and installation of technology, equipment, machinery and tools, and hiring and training a world-class staff.

  • Student Scholarship Donor

    As a student scholarship donor, you make it possible for students from underserved communities to enjoy consistent and ongoing STEAM experiences during after school or summer courses. Your gift will include course fees, supplies, transportation and snack or lunch. Scholarships will be given to students from schools in high-poverty areas of Kansas City. Each scholarship is $250. You may choose to support one student or many.

  • Program Support Donor

    As a program support donor, your contribution is a critical investment in the work and mission of IDEA Space. It allows us to build and strengthen community relationships with public and private school districts, home school associations, nonprofit organizations and community partners that would not otherwise have access to a STEAM learning center. These relationships allow access for students across Kansas City and provide professional development and training for teachers.
